Geçen ay, çalıştığım şirketin düzenlediği bir iş gezisi için Londra'ya gittim. Bu gezinin amacı, gönüllü olarak çevreye duyarlı projeler geliştirmemizi teşvik etmekti. İstanbul ofisimizde arkadaşlarımla birlikte son altı ayda bir su tasarrufu uygulaması geliştirdik. Bu uygulamanın detaylarını ve kodunu önceki blog yazımda paylaşmıştım. Kısaca, bu uygulama insanların güncel su tüketimlerini gösteriyor ve su tasarrufu için önerilerde bulunuyor.

Ancak bu yazımda asıl vurgulamak istediğim nokta, bu gezinin benim için ne kadar değerli olduğu. Londra, uzun zamandır ziyaret etmek istediğim bir şehirdi, ancak bir türlü fırsat bulamamıştım. Bu proje sayesinde, hem Londra'ya gitme şansı yakaladım hem de orada çalışan iş arkadaşlarımla yüz yüze görüştüm. Bu, bana gerçek bir değer kattı. Artık kafamda sadece bir ofis değil, gerçek insanlar ve onların kullandığı teknolojiler vardı. 

Dönüşte, İstanbul'a getirdiğim en büyük kazanç, yeni projelere daha hevesli yaklaşma arzusuydu. Londra'da tanıştığım insanlar, şehir ve İngiliz kültürü, beni yeni fikirlerle baş başa bırakmıştı. Şimdi İstanbul'da çalışmaya devam ediyorum. Teknoloji ve globalleşen dünyayı yakından takip etmek benim için önemli. Bu deneyim, gelecekte daha fazla projeye imza atma konusundaki hevesimi artırdı. Özetle, farklı kültürleri tanımak ve yeni yerleri keşfetmek, bize daha geniş bir perspektif kazandırıyor. Bu tür kısa seyahatler, bizi daha bilinçli, daha üretken hale getiriyor ve bize daha fazla ilham kaynağı oluyor.

Last month, I travelled to London for a business trip organised by the company I work for. The aim of this journey was to encourage us to voluntarily develop environmentally-conscious projects. In our Istanbul office, my colleagues and I had been working on a water-saving application for the past six months. I had shared the details and code of this application in a previous blog post. In brief, this application provides users with insights into their current water consumption and offers recommendations for water conservation.

However, the main point I wish to highlight in this article is the immense value of this trip to me. London had been on my list of places to visit for a long time, but I had never had the opportunity. Thanks to this project, not only did I get the chance to visit London, but I also met face-to-face with my colleagues working there. This experience added genuine value to my perspective. Now, I had more than just an office in my mind; I had real people and the technologies they use. This experience granted me a global viewpoint.

Upon returning, the most significant gain I brought back to Istanbul was an increased enthusiasm for new projects. The people I met in London, the city itself, and the British culture all fuelled me with fresh ideas. Keeping abreast of technology and our globalising world is crucial to me. This experience has bolstered my eagerness to embark on more projects in the future. In summary, getting to know different cultures and exploring new places provides us with a broader perspective. Such short trips inspire us, making us more conscious and productive."
